Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy, and expensive and you probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Two mixers with unajustable beater to bowl clearance.

Submitted by Kflamm - 9/8/2017

Grew up with a kitchenaid mixer in the home and have always loved it. Just got married and first purchase we made was for a new kitchenaid pro 600. I was so excited! Get home and there is almost 1/3" clearance. Adjusted to the highest position but that only reduced it to a 1/4. I returned it to the store and grabbed a new one. This one also had too much clearance. After raising it as high as the screw would let me it still was too low. While much better than the first mixer the new one still failed the dime test. I'm really disappointed. And im not sure if its worth trying a third time.

Does not mix ingredients on the bottom of the bowl

Submitted by BB - 8/27/2017

I bought this to replace my tilt head. The attachments do not mix ingredients at the bottom of the bowl. DO NOT BUY THIS. I have since tried adjusting it and buying various accessories. None of which have worked. I regret this purchase. If you want a good mixer that does the job, look elsewhere.

Disappointed

Submitted by Karen - 8/1/2017

I purchased two mixers (one for myself and one for my daughter) less than year ago and we are both disappointed with the overall performance of this product. The mixing attachments do not reach the bottom of the bowl so I find myself pushing the bowl upward toward the attachment to ensure everything get's mixed. If I do not do this, the ingredients in the bowl will not get mixed. This defeats the purpose of a stand (alone) mixer because I'm constantly holding the bowl and unable to accomplish anything else while my ingredients are mixing.

Everything I Expected

Submitted by Frank - 6/18/2017

I got this mixer for Father's Day and was very excited since I love to bake sweets and interesting recipes. So far I have made cakes, cookies, and pizza. I am about to get the ravioli attachment since I grew up in the north and had great Italian food from friends and relatives. Everything I have made this far has been great. For the new stand mixer novice I think you have to experiment a bit and try different quantities of ingredients to see what produces the best results. That part I am learning. The mixer seems to be limitless at this point. It takes the work load away and makes cooking fun! A few suggestions... I would recommend that you get the flex edge beater right away. It really is perfect for keeping the bowl clean and helps a lot with mixing. Also, if you are older and a suffering from any arthritis you might want to order a metal bowl or step down to the professional 600 and not the design model with glass bowl. The glass bowl is nice because you can see everything while it is mixing. It is also very easy to clean rinsing in the sink. The problem for those with weak hands is that it is heavy. So when you load it up with product, it might be a little more for the average person to handle. The lesser models have stainless bowls and are lighter. Once again, you can order the stainless bowl, but you are going to have to spend a bit more. Bottom line, the mixer is wonderful so far. It is a bit on the high dollar side and It would be nice to throw in the edge beater or the lighter bowl, but I understand profit issues for Kitchenaid. Beautiful Stand Mixer overall.

Disappointed

Submitted by Monica - 6/7/2017

I got thus mixer a few months ago and did get a chance to use it until recently. I am disappointed that it doesn't mix the ingredients in the bottom of the bowl. I even bought the paddle with the scrapper and it still misses the bottom of the bowl. I had higher expectations for paying this much for a Mixer.

Bowl / height issues

Submitted by petersen - 6/1/2017

we had the Artisan for years (sold it when we moved) then saw the 600 model in the store and I talked my wife into getting this over a new Artisan model - I wish I never did,, we should have gotten the Artisan instead. this one doesn't reach/scrape the bottom of the bowl,(even after adjusting the screw to max) so she practically never uses it. anyway with nothing to loose (other than more $$) we went ahead and ordered a steel bowl to replace the glass bowl, figuring that maybe I could modify the steel bowl to sit a bit higher on the arms - but that wasn't needed with the steel bowl it reaches where it should, just unhappy we had to spend extra $$ on a unit that should had worked.

Don't buy

Submitted by Frustrated Baker - 5/29/2017

I've had this 18 months and the only positive is it looks good on the counter. I bought this to replace my Classic tilt head, which works fine, but is too small for bread. Unfortunately, bread is all this model is decent for, and I still end up with unkneaded crumbles in the bottom. As others have noted, no matter how many times you adjust the beater height, it does not completely mix any dough or batter- this is a big design flaw. Forget whipping egg whites- this cannot do it at all -I had to hang on to my old tilt head for that , and I live in an apartment- no room . And , the only way to get an extra bowl is to buy another big glass one- money better put towards a new mixer! . I especially angry about this - before I purchased mixer in November 2015, I called kitchenaid customer service about separate purchase of an extra metal or smaller glass bowl for this model ( my classic has an extra 3qt bowl and it is really useful). I was told a 6 qt metal bowl to fit this model was coming out " next month" --the woman even gave me the part number !!! What a joke - it never was produced- in any size. (I believe I read on another site that I was not only one mislead on bowl by kitchenaid-- I wish I could find that fake part number now. ) And, don't bother with the bowl scraper beater it continually falls off and is even shorter than the regular beater ( yes, I DO have the one for this model and not the metal bowl model .) I do believe kitchenaid makes the best mixers, but unfortunately, I can't afford to toss this one -- I'm stuck .

Submitted by Shellpea - 5/27/2017

I bought this mixer about 18 months ago and I do a lot of baking! Kitchenaid has always had rave reviews and we used them in school, so of course I wanted the best! Unfortunately my mixers motor has burned out and I'm going to have to buy a new one, because there is only a one year warranty! I'm use to scraping the bowl! You should always scrap your bowl, so ingredients being on the bottom doesn't bother me! What bothers me is the amount of money I spent on this mixer! I was hoping to get at least a few years out of it! I'm so disappointed right now! I have orders to fill this week and now I'm looking for another mixer! ?

Submitted by Doreen - 5/23/2017

I called customer service today regarding a new handle. I never got a black tip on mine. Been suffering with the use. Very difficult to raise and lower without it. A total design flaw on the Pro 500 Plus. I wish I would have kept my tilt Kitchenaid Mixer! Was a workhorse. This Pro 500 does not scrap the bottom either! Terrible. I wish I could trade in for a large tilt model. Very unhappy customer.

Poor investment

Submitted by Lina - 5/18/2017

I bought this a few weeks ago as a birthday for myself. I bake a lot and often in big batches. I thought this would be ideal. The mixer blades don't reach the bottom of the bowl and therefore, poorly incorporates the ingredients. Tonight, I was making a large batch of brownies and I removed the bowl to scrape the bottom and as I put the bowl back on the arm and pins, the rim of the glass bowl sheared off and I had to throw away all the batter for fear of glass in the batter. I didn't research the problems with this model as I had another kitchen aid for 18 years with no issue. Really disappointed.

Great Looking, Flawed Design

Submitted by Cooking Queen - 5/17/2017

I bought this mixer just over a year ago as a present to myself. I have never had a Kitchenaid Mixer before but everyone raves about them and EVERY chef seems to use them. So I bought this one because it was an attractive price and had a ice cream maker rebate. The problem with this design is the bowl is difficult to attach to the mixer and the mixing paddle doesn't reach the bottom! I always have to scrape with a spatula to get everything mixed correctly. Also when you are done mixing you have to remove the paddle or whisk in order to get the bowl out. Its very cumbersome... just seems more difficult than it needs to be. I think the tilt back model would be better.

Doesn't Reach the Bottom

Submitted by See Kasey Bake - 5/8/2017

I received this mixer as a gift for my birthday last year, after having my mother's tilt-head version (a relic from my childhood that made all my birthday cakes, cookies, and holiday treats). My mom's mixer had been such a workhorse and it was time for me to get a new, larger, work horse of my own. Ever since I started using it, I have been frustrated with several things: 1) The blade doesn't reach the bottom and consistently misses the product at the bottom, or (even worse), pushes the product away from the blade as it mixes and doesn't cream or whip anything. 2) The gears inside will occasionally make a clanking noise when mixing. 3) Finding attachment beaters that work with the glass bowl is next to impossible, when trying to remedy the first issue. I want to love this mixer like I loved my mother's, I really do... but I am getting fed up. I don't want to have to spend even more money in order to make it function like it should straight out of the box. Kitchenaid is my favorite brand, but this was a huge disappointment.

Mixer leaves everything on the bottom. Always have to scrape. Contacted kitchen aid and they sent me a new bowl. Same problem. Butter never creams just gets packed on the bottom. Have read many reviews online and this seems to be a common problem. Have tried the dime trick and adjusting with no difference in outcome. Have always used kitchen aid brand. My very first stand mixer was wonderful. This one I am ready to just throw away.

So Disappointing

Submitted by Mallow Man - 5/2/2017

I bought this mixer just over a year ago. Randomly when I turn it on it won't turn on. In addition, when doing hard candy in the glass bowl there is ALWAYS a ring of sugar in the bowl. For example, I used my metal bowl with my 4.5 qt mixer last night and it worked better than my FAR more expensive 6 quart. I WILL say that I consider this model a fluke, given these horrible reviews of long time owners. I will still buy another Kitchenaid, but at this point I have to if I want my business to succeed.

Yay and nay!

Submitted by LOVE TO COOK - 5/2/2017

My husband gave me this mixer for Christmas. I had always wanted a Kitchen aid mixer, but they were too expensive. So, I was thrilled when I opened up my present! When using it, I have experienced difficulty when trying to add ingredients while mixing. They don't pour easily into the bowl, nor does the mixer lift up for easy access. So I thought.... no problem....I will order a pour guard to remedy this, along with a second bowl. After much searching online and then calling customer service, I learned that there is one bowl that will fit (a stainless steel) and they don't make a pour guard for my model. How silly is that!? The company has been making these mixers for YEARS and don't recognise the deficiencies of the machine. Very frustrating.

Not what I anticipated

Submitted by mcmerla - 4/15/2017

I received the Pro 600 in black for Christmas and was thrilled! I immediately nicknamed it my "kitchen harley". However, after using about 4 trimes now, I am not happy. It is simply too big and spatula doesn't reach anywhere near the bottom. I can't beat eggs or cream sugar and butter cuz the amounts are too small for the spatula to reach either the bottom or sides. I use to use my 5 quart daily; I am now using my hand mixer instead of this beast because it does a better job. I don't really want to give it a bad rating, because if you are mixing a triple to 5 times the recipe, it would work fine (I quadruple my dog biscuit recipe and this beast does a fine job). I should have heeded the word "Pro". Simply too big for home use. Heavy, heavy, heavy. I could like my old 5 quart; I keep this one on a mat and slide. The glass bowl is difficult to clean because it is so heavy. At least make a spatula that would reach the food! Then it would be doable for home use.

So disappointed...

Submitted by Monty - 4/14/2017

I got this as a wedding gift through my registry and was so excited when I received it. After just one use, I'm utterly disappointed. I made pizza dough, which I have made dozens of times in my old 5 quart model, but the paddle had trouble incorporating the flour from the side of the bowl. I had to stop multiple times to scrape the sides with a spatula. Next up, the dough hook was too far from the sides of the bowl to ever pick up the dough onto the hook. It just made a circular indent in the middle and spun around inside of it, never really kneading the dough. I was ready to pull out my old mixer, but oops! I already sold it because my new pro model was gonna be so amazing! Yeah right... After reading similar reviews online, looks like I've got to spend close to $100 to get the right bowls and attachments to make it work as it should. What a joke.

A kitchenaid mixtake!

Submitted by B - 4/13/2017

I have been a big Kitchen Aid stand mixer fan. I purchased on for each of my daughters and my daughter in law when they married. I had a plain 5 qt white one that was noisy but worked great. I was taken by all the pretty colors and had never purchased a glass bowl for myself. So I picked a pretty color and bought a new one. I sold my sold one to a very happy person that got a great deal. Sadly I sold it before I tried the new one The beaters would not adjust so you can reach things at the bottom of the bowl. I called Kitchen Aid and they promptly sent a new one. Sadly the new one was just as bad. I could not beat egg whites and when I tried mixing other ingredients the part at the bottom of the bowl wasn't reached. I chatted online with a guy that said their people said the beaters were adjusted higher due to it being a glass bowl and that I should be able to beat egg whites as long as I used at least three. Note: Didn't work for me. He also told me I was probably using self rising flour and that I should use regular flour instead. What???? I sent the mixer back. I purchased a 6 qt Kitchen Aid stand mixer with a stainless bowl and expect it will be as great as they usually are. I'm sorry I decided to opt for the new color...it would have saved me time, money and a a lot of hassle. Kitchen Aid should take this model off the market or fix the beater adjustment as after reading the reviews I found I was one of many that had the same problem with this model.

Frustration!

Submitted by Pat - 4/9/2017

I purchased this as a replacement for a similar kitchenaid model which died. It is very attractive, and the see-through bowl shows how ingredients are mixing. Thus, it is very obvious that the ingredients in the bottom of the bowl do not get combined with the rest of the mixture. The highest bowl adjustment level does not take care of this problem! I am so thankful I kept the stainless steel bowl and attachments from the old one, as they work fine with the new machine. There is no way to adjust this new mixer so that it is functional with the glass bowl and any of the accompanying beaters.

I received this product as a gift. I do love it. Just a few things I don't care for. I think they should all come with the spatula mixer. The regular one never reaches the bowl no matter how I adjust it. I wish I would have gotten the tilt head. I don't like having to remove the mixer to get the bowl out. I love my Kitchenaid Mixer!! I bake a lot of cookies at Christmas & I could not do it without my Kitchenaid. I only use Kitchenaid small appliances in my home. I also want to add that the customer service is excellent. I had a problem with a mixer I purchased less that a year ago, and Kitchenaid replaced it immediately.

Bought this mixer two months ago. It was defective, but as soon as KitchenAid was notified, they sent out a new unit. I need to get used to this size and style, but overall is meeting my needs.

Powerful mixer, but with limitations...

Submitted by tink - 3/17/2017

I had been dreaming of owning a KA mixer for a long time, mostly due to the KA reputation, but also, my grandma has one and I always loved watching her use it. I finally got one and loved the idea of the pretty glass bowl on this one. I now wish that I would have stuck with the tried and true KA mixer with stainless bowl. This glass bowl and mixer were designed so that the beaters never actually come close to the glass, and that is its downfall. Things never get thouroughly mixed because of this, and I often have to stop the machine and scrape the bowl. There is always flour or other untouched ingredients on the bottom of the bowl. I really feel that, for the price of this mixer, this shouldn't be happening. This is the second of this model that I have had, because the one I originally bought was flawed and KA replaced it. Other than that, this mixer runs great and is beautiful to look at. I would just recommend a different model. Wish I would have checked reviews before my purchase.

Beautiful machine!

I bought this a couple weeks ago and have used it to make my secret family noodle recipe, which really cut down time and the work load of my arms and hands! I absolutely love it! I do wish that I had thought about finding heaters to fit it, since it is a special series it seems, none of the regular 600 series beaters fit it.

GREAT mixer (machine is awesome) TERRIBLE glass bowl

Submitted by Chel - 3/15/2017

As far as the machine goes, it's excellent. It hasn't lacked in power or performance in anything I've tried to do: triple batches of chocolate chip cookie dough, breads of all kinds, etc. My complaint (and it is heavy) is about the beautiful, light-catching, not-so-glorious bowl and paddle combination. If you're looking to buy this mixer because it has a glass bowl, just don't. Find one with the metal bowl set. Every. Single. Time. I have made bread in this thing, I have had to take the beautiful eye-catching bowl off the mixer and mix it by hand. It's infuriating. The reason is because neither the paddle nor the dough hook reach anywhere near the bottom of the bowl, so it cannot possibly pick up all the food and mix it in. Seriously? What was the design team THINKING when they made this? Did they even TRY it to see if it would WORK if they left the dough hook 14 inches away from the bottom of the bowl? Okay, 14 inches is an exaggeration. But it might as well be because there is something equivalent to a mattress left at the bottom of my bowl no matter what I do. My motivation for writing this review is that I am currently, like right now, making pizza dough. I add the liquid to only half of the flour, and then add the rest of flour after the liquid is mixed in. This is perfectly normal. So before I add the rest of the flour, I took my bowl off the mixer, and mixed in all of the liquids (because yes, dry flour was at the bottom of the bowl) with a spatula. Thinking that since I was adding more dry flour in from the top and it would get mixed in, I thought I had found a loophole! Oh no. After running the mixer enough to incorporate the rest of the flour, I found a full mattress underneath my "dough." So once again, I HAND MIXED it in. But of course the shredded flour/wet mixture at the bottom wouldn't incorporate well, so I would have been better off to mix by hand in the first stinkin' place. Somebody on the design team needs to be fired for okaying this.

Loving it!

Submitted by elimeg - 2/25/2017

Received this for Christmas this year, replacing my original kitchenaid from 20 years ago. I am loving the ease of use, although it was a bit tough getting the beater aligned correctly. It's also sort of a bummer that my old bowls can't be used with it, as I don't always need something as large as the bowl that was enclosed. Other than that, it's fantastic, so for my big projects, its perfect, and then I will keep my original for my smaller baking projects.

Love this mixer!

I upgraded from a classic and I love the professional. It doesn't shoot flour out at me like the other one. I love the glass bowl and I bought the flex edge beater which I feel is a must.
